Police numbers are up - 90 extra officers over the last two years in our Division.
We've also had 50 extra Community Support Officers. Crime figures are falling dramatically. Across West Yorkshire, crime figures are he lowest for 10 years. The chances of being a victim are the lowest for a decade. (Click here for more details of local area crime figures) I have continued to push for more resources for our police force. BUT We need our local police to make best use of those extra resources. They need to root out recurrent crime, and to support repeat victims. They must tackle the pockets of anti-social behaviour that exist in some neighbourhoods. I would be grateful for your views - positive and negative - on local issues relating to crime and the performance of the police. I meet regularly with the Divisional Commander, to discuss issues raised by constituents. Where necessary, I also take them up with the Chief Constable or with Government Ministers.
